The BK19 fixed-head Nessmuk knife from the Becker Short Knives series. The line of these tools is a collaboration between Ka-Bar Knives and famed knifemaker Ethan Becker. The Becker Nessmuk knife will work well as a companion for trips to the woods, camping and hunting. The 4.5mm thick blade and Full Tang shank design create the definition of toughness against tasks typical of bushcraft, such as planing or batoning soft wood.
Structurally, the knife is a highly precision-formed piece of 1095 Cro-Van high-carbon steel with a bolt-on Ultramid® polymer handle. Its special feature is the Nessmuk spoon-shaped head with a rounded top of the back. This is a type of blade popularized by George Sears inspired by Native American art.
Due to the use of carbon steel, the manufacturer coated it with a handle-colored coating that gives it the appropriate anti-corrosion properties. In addition, it gives a matte finish that does not reflect the sun's rays. The 1095 steel has a hardness in the range of 56-58 HRC on the Rockwell scale, which makes it balanced in terms of sharpening and maintaining sharpness.
The polymer handle has a smoothed shape with a cutout at the level of the index finger. Together with the head, this forms the hilt, protecting the hand from excessive extension. A hole in the foot of the bolt allows you to pull a paracord cord, string or lash. As the knife has liners compatible with the Becker Short Knives series, the user can swap them for the accessory Ka-Bar BK16HNDL made of Micarta material.
The BK19 knife comes with a practical handle-colored scabbard made of highly durable Celcon polymer. The knife is press-mounted, and can also be clipped with a trouser on a steel drive. The sturdy nylon webbing allows the knife to be carried on even extra-wide tactical belts. It is possible to change the position of the scabbard mounting side on the belt, for this purpose it is necessary to unscrew two allen screws.
